Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) Pokhara Chapter and Sanctuary Tourism Entrepreneurs Committee (STEC) signed a six-point agreement in Pokhara in the presence of representatives of TAAN and Annapurna Area Conservation Project (ACAP) on December 25.
TAAN President Ramesh Dhamala was present in the signing ceremony.
TAAN Pokhara and STEC have agreed to jointly review menu of hotels in affiliated with the committee every two years. Similarly, the committee has agreed to upgrade physical infrastructures at hotels and lodges above Sinuwa and allocate two rooms for trekking workers.
Similarly, the committee has agreed to collect lodging from food free from trekking workers from the counters of hotels they are staying. So far, the committee had been collecting the fee regardless of where they stay or eat. The hotels and lodges have also agreed to serve guests on first come, first served basis. If room has to be shared due to high pressure of trekkers and trekking workers, hotels and lodges have to agree to share rooms as per the mutual understanding.
Both the sides have agreed to create environment conducive for trekking workers in major trekking trails in the Annapurna region. Similarly, the two sides have also agreed to forge tripartite understanding (by including ACAP) for works like tourism promotion, exploration of trekking trails, infrastructure development and other works.
